Abstract
Lithium is a much sort after commodity today being a key component of modern batteries used in household electronics to electric cars. It is considered a critical mineral for energy transition. My talk will discuss the common lithium sources and explore lithium abundance at cosmic, rock and mineral scale. The talk will also discuss mechanism through which they get concentrated in economic proportions with focus on rock-based sources.

Dr. Rajeev Nair, Ph.D.
Dr. Rajeev Nair is a geologist and a Professor in the Department of Earth, Energy, and Environment at University of Calgary. His expertise is in the origin and evolution of rocks, primarily those that form at high temperatures from magmas and deeper in the Earth. He uses the chemistry of rocks to understand the processes that form them.
